Church Stretton Musicfest

We took part in a number of events including half an hour in the ‘Rag Café’.

Our major showpiece, though, was this concert in the church. We played music ranging from 1612 to the present day, from Orlando Gibbons through Bach, Mozart and Dvorak to Shostakovich. We included some jazz standards from Gershwin, Ellington, Glen Miller and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

Guesting with the Quartet were Pat Smith (alto & tenor) and Debbie Cawte (tenor). We were therefore able to play various combinations from three to six saxophones.

The audience were most appreciative, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would just have like a bit more time: an hour was over all too quickly!

Last Saturday Church Stretton was filled with music
